Since women's voting rights were a big problem in the early 1840's, our reading topic this term is "votes for women". Mia, Nazella, Javeylor, Mishaan, Jorja and I have been working collaborativly to make this 25 word summary about women's suffragette. Watching a youtube video we choose 6 important words and put them in our summary about women's right to vote/women's suffragettes.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Explaining Movie
This week for reading, Fifita, Mia, Nazella and I made an explaining movie about landfills in New Zealand. This movie explained how long rubbish takes to biodegrade. This was very interesting because I learnt many new facts. We should be careful of what we throw in landfills because we will end up with large unwanted polluted landfills in New Zealand. I really enjoyed making this movie about landfills.

5 Minutes Of ....
This week we have been re - looking at recounts. To show our understanding we wrote a duet recount using personification, similes, onomatopoeia and many more. But there was a twist to writing this recount, we had to pair up with a partner and write one sentence each. I buddied up with Nazella and we collaborated really well. I thought this would be hard because we wouldn't know each others ideas. We planned this using TREE ( Title, Reveal, Events, Ending). Using this picture prompt we had to come up with a story before the rescue mission is happened or after this happened.

Shoe Narrative
Today for writing we had to write a shoe narrative. What we had to do was find a buddy, plan how the shoes felt, what they saw, what they heard, what they smelt and what they touched. We had to write one sentence each sitting back by back and writing a story. This was really fun and I really enjoyed it. Out LI: was to use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words. I worked collaboratively with Nazella and we completed the task together. To use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words. To use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words.
Today for reading, we were synthesizing. We watched a video based on Charlotte Anne, we had to also use our 6 colored hats. We had to answer all of the questions then synthezise which means get the information you know and the information that you found out and re-arange the ideas so that you can make an understanding.

This week for reading we had to read poems. The poems we read were The Soldier Who Never Returned, Spirit Of ANZAC, In Flanders Field and Poem For Remembrance Day. Nazella and I worked together to find out the main idea and the evidence of what the main idea was. To help us find out about the main idea was think about the author's purpose, look at the title. look at the pictures, look at the first and last sentence and look for the repetition of words or phrases. A main idea means what the poem is about and the author's purpose. Our LI: for this task was to find a main idea of a poem.

Auto Chunky Challenge - Spelling
Today we started to practice spelling. We got to choose out of three games and I choose the Bouncing Anagram spelling game ( A link to the game ). We then had to find a partner, get a dictionary and a vivid. As we got what we needed the person with the vivid sat on the mat ready to write some words. I collaborativly worked with my class mate Nazella. Nazella was standing behind me with a dictionary ready to tell me some words. As the timer began Nazella told me some words and we could only write 3 down. The other words in the dictionary were already writin on the paper. We practiced spelling to improve on our reading so when we do a test we know how to brake up the words if they are to long.
