Place Value Pirates


Our focus today in maths was decimals place values. I played a game which was called place value pirates. This game helps you recall your decimals place value.

Comparative and Superlative

 
 Today for writing we were focusing on comparative and superlative. This was kind of hard, because there was some trick words. I chose to illustrate the words angry, angrier, angriest.

Ordering Decimals Game

Today for maths, our follow up was to play this ordering decimals game. We had to order decimals from least to the greatest. This was a really fun game.

E-ako Maths


Today we were playing E-ako maths. This is the adding category and you had to add numbers together to receive the correct answer.  I have reached up to 89 points. E-ako math helps you with maths and it is a really fun game.

Food Tech - Fish Kebabs and Potato Salad



This week for tech were were making Fish kebabs and potato salad. I was working with Oh Hsen, SaKae, Nazella and I. The fish were were using was Salmon. One thing I learned was, to not drop potatoes into hot boiling water because, the water could burn you. Once the salmon was cooked and the potato salad was made, we tried it. It was really delicious and I really liked the potato salad.

Softball Interschool - Silver Attitude Care Award

Last week was the softball inter school. We went down to Dunkirk park to compete. We had a great time and the year 8's collaborated together. 


E-ako Maths


Today, we were playing E-ako maths. E-ako maths is a game were you have to solve maths problems. It teaches you how to skip count, add numbers, and many more. This was the adding category. This game helps with understanding maths and what it means.

What is a River? - Inquiry

 

 Today for inquiry we were learning about the features of a river. We were paired up and my partner was Jorja. We watched a video about a river and had to write a 25 sentences story about a river. We then made a google drawing. We had a picture of the Tamaki River. We had to identify and describe the picture. This is my DLO.

Food Tech - Rotation 1


This is our first rotation for tech. I am in the cooking class with the year 8's. We were making baked toast with spaghetti on top. I was working with Oh Hsen, Sakae, Nazella and I. Our teacher is Mrs. Heka for this rotation. Next week we are looking forward to make fish kebabs.

The Water Cycle - Inquiry

 

 This week for inquiry we were studying the water cycle. Were were put into groups, Josh, Calvin,and I were working together to make this water cycle. We had to make a google drawing and recreate and water cycle. Josh, Calvin, and I were working collaboratively together. I learned that when the sun comes out it turns the water into steam and goes to the the clouds. Once the cloud is full of the steams liquid, it pours rain. This was a fun activity because we were working together as a team.

Today in reading, we were paired up and my partner was Mathias. We had to give feedback each other about our reading task. One thing I liked about Mathias was that his voice was really loud.

PBS Values


Today I was put into a group with Tiava, Sylis, Te Wai, Dallas, Joshua, Oh Hsen, Ofa, Jeremaiah and Mathaias. With this collaborative activity we had to write an explanation, what our C.A.R.E values mean? and what might that look like in LS2. We posed to each of the C.A.R.E values and wrote our own meaning what they mean. CARE values are important because it will help us strive to achieve our goals. It was also fun collaborating with other people.
